    What does a comprehensive vehicle inspection include?

    The inspection will include everything the manufacturer specifies and is required for the logbook service. Everything below, and much much more!

    • 1. Test drive

      The engine, drivetrain, brakes and suspension in your vehicle will be tested to ensure that they are up to standard.

    • 2. Operational check

      The standard components of your vehicle such as seat belts, lights, wipers including washers and arm mechanism, horn will be inspected. The air/cabin filters and housing will also be checked.

    • 3. Digital battery check

      Your battery will be tested and printed results will be provided.

    • 4. Inspection of underbody

      A visual inspection will be conducted for leaks from your engine, exhaust system, fuel line and gearbox.

    • 5. Tyre pressure and tread wear check

      The condition, pressure and tread wear of your tyres (including the spare) will be inspected to ensure that it is up to the legal standard.

    • 6. Brake wear recommendation

      A precise measurement can be provided to you. This will also include a fluid condition check.

    • 7. Suspension system check

      Joints and bearings in your vehicle will be checked for any leaks.

    • 8. Final assessment of vehicle

      The wheels are cross checked and a final road test is performed to ensure quality of the service and operations performed.

    Basic servicing

A thorough inspection ensures that the bike is safe to ride and meets legal requirements for your State or Territory.     Does your motorbike need a roadworthy?

    When you’re planning on selling on a motorbike intended for riding (as opposed to a show-only collectors item or for parts) a roadworthy certificate can help boost buyer confidence and increase the likelihood of a sale - it provides a certain level of protection for both buyer and seller. Depending on where you live, you may be required to hold a current (within thirty days of sale or transfer) roadworthy or safety certificate in order to complete the transfer from old to new owner.

    Each State and Territory in Australia has different inspection requirements when selling a motorbike or transferring registration details to a new owner. We’ve gathered a bullet point per state, but be sure to check with your local transport authority for more detailed information:

    • Queensland and Victoria require a certificate of roadworthiness to be presented before vehicle registration can be transferred from one person to the next
    • In the ACT, a motorbike RWC is required for vehicles over six years old
    • NSW does not require a RWC, but vehicles over five years old need to have an annual safety inspection undertaken before registration can be renewed, mycar stores can provide a Motorbike RWC
    • Western Australia and Tasmania do not require a RWC
    • In the NT, you can sell a motorbike less than three years old without a roadworthy certificate, but you will need to obtain a compliance certificate.
