Everything to know about Tesla tyre size

Sleek and sustainable, the Tesla is an electric car that delivers impressive performance. Each model of Tesla is unique in its features but all hit the mark for instant torque, outstanding safety ratings and high tech luxury.

So what tyres do Tesla use? Your Tesla isn’t a standard car, and neither are its tyres. A high-performance vehicle needs high-performance tyres to handle the lightning-quick acceleration Tesla’s powertrain unleashes. That means it’s important to know what size Tesla tyres your specific model needs to ensure the right fit and optimum ride. So if you’re looking for a Tesla tyre replacement, or simply want to know more about EV tyres, hop in and we’ll tell you all you need to know.

Do Teslas have special tyres?

Yes they do, and it’s highly recommended that you only use electric vehicle specific tyres that are specially designed for high performance, with thicker sidewalls for maximum durability. This is because they need to handle the instant high torque and powerful acceleration of the electric engine while keeping you safe. Inside Tesla tyres there’s also a layer of acoustic foam—this is to reduce tyre noise for an even quieter ride.

What size are Tesla tyres?

Tesla tyre sizes vary depending on the model, and some even have different sized tyres on the front and back, so you should always check your owner’s manual before buying new ones. Let’s take a look at tyre sizes for some of the most common Teslas.

So, are Tesla Model 3 tyres all the same size? The answer is no. The Tesla Model 3 sedan was introduced in 2017, and its tyres differ slightly based on the specific version and wheels you have. The Tesla 3 tyre size can be either 18, 19, or 20 inches, but all versions have the same tyre size on front and rear. Always check your vehicle’s manual for the exact pressure and regularly monitor your tyre pressure to ensure optimal performance.

The lifespan of Tesla tyres can vary based on the model and driving conditions they experience, but on average you can expect your Tesla tyres to last between 20,000 to 65,000 km. Tesla recommends that you replace your tyres at least every six years, or sooner if you need to, even if the Tesla tyre tread hasn’t worn down to the minimum permitted depth.
