How customers feel about our Car Servicing

How to know a Ford Focus oil change is required

When an oil change is needed there’s a few telltale signs to look out for. Smoky exhaust or an oily smell in the car are good indicators that your oil has seen better days. When you check your oil levels with the dipstick it should be translucent with a golden brown hue, so if it looks dark brown, black or gritty, then it’s definitely time to get it replaced. And of course it’s been a while since your last oil change, or if you have an illuminated Ford Focus check engine light, an oil change at mycar could be just what your car needs.

How we change oil for a Ford Focus at mycar

From the moment you roll into mycar, your car is in good hands. Your oil change for Ford Focus starts with an initial assessment where we give it a thorough inspection for wear and tear. Then we’ll drain off the murky mucky old oil and remove the oil filter, disposing of both responsibly. At this point, we give the seals the once-over to make sure there’s no leaks, install a new premium oil filter, and refill your engine with high-quality fresh engine oil with that translucent golden glow.

How often does a Ford Focus need an oil change?

Your Ford Focus oil change frequency should ideally be every 6-12 months, or roughly every 10,000 - 15,000 km. But if you’ve been doing a lot of stop-start driving, or towing heavy loads then your oil may need changing more often, so it’s recommended to check your oil regularly to keep an eye on how it looks.

What kind of oil does a Ford Focus take?

While the most common type for a Ford Focus is 5W-20 or 5W-30 synthetic motor oil, the type of oil your Ford Focus will depend on the exact year and model of your vehicle.
