We all know you can charge an EV, but did you know you can discharge them too?

When it comes to recovering after a natural disaster, one of the most debilitating aspects is loss of power; which is why we recently trialled a People First initiative like no other.

The Chargers were a team of EVs that were deployed to affected areas to share their battery power with communities in need. While the average charged EV battery has the ability to power a small house, the mycar Chargers were focused on reaching more affected Aussies by powering the little things that truly bring comfort in difficult times. Everything from a baby monitor or a laptop, to medical devices like hearing aids.

More than 100 EV owners (with vehicle to load capabilities) signed up to be a volunteer Charger themselves. Together we helped hundreds of Aussies across QLD and NSW in their time of need. Check out the videos below to see the trials in action.

On behalf of the mycar team, a big thank you to everyone who volunteered to join the mycar Chargers. Stay tuned for further updates on the initiative.
